Youth Programs

The Dallas Zoo and Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park offer opportunities for youth between the ages of 13 and 17. These exciting programs give a wide variety of experiences to teens looking into the field of animal management and conservation education.


Dallas Zoo Teen Science Café

Teen Science Café out-of-school programs are a free, fun way for teens to explore the big advances in science and technology affecting their lives. Teens and STEM experts engage in lively conversations and activities to explore a topic deeply. Teen Science Café is open to all high school students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Teen Science Café meets on select Sundays from 2-4 p.m. at the Dallas Zoo.

Zoo Corps

Zoo Corps consists of diverse high school students who select an environmental or animal issue and create a real-world solution. This year-long program is designed for teens, run by teens, and makes a direct impact in our community and world. Zoo Corps applications close on Sept. 15.

*Note: hands-on contact and direct work with animals IS NOT a key feature of the Zoo Corps program.

Program Fee: $75

Zoo Corps applications are now closed for the 2018-19 school year.


Zoo Crew 

Zoo Crew, formerly known as the Youth Volunteer Program, is the Dallas Zoo’s new program for youth age 13-17. As a member of Zoo Crew, you will get the chance to:

  • Learn and build upon public speaking skills throughout various areas of the Dallas Zoo
  • Assist with animal care duties
  • Assist with education programs and camps
  • Explore zoo career options
  • Volunteer for special event opportunities
